Programs and Requirements

Alternative Program Consideration

High School Applicants

New applicants are allowed three program choices in order of priority (1, 2, 3) on the undergraduate application for admission. Based on the program priorities you indicate on your application, you may be also be considered for additional programs.

For example, you may also be considered for admission to alternative programs if you apply to programs offered by the Faculty of Arts or the Faculty of Physical Education and Recreation.

As another example, if you apply to a Bachelor of Science (Honors) program in the Faculty of Science and do not meet the admission criteria, you may be considered for other programs offered by the Faculty of Science (specialization and/or general programs), providing you meet the admission criteria. These alternative program considerations will occur regardless of whether you indicate them as second or third program priorities and may occur at either the Early or Final Admission stage.

Postsecondary Transfer Applicants

You are normally considered for your first priority program only. In the event that you are not admissible to your first priority, you will be considered for your second and/or third priorities. Please note exceptions below.

If you apply to one of the following professional programs, you will be automatically considered for admission regardless of whether you indicate the program as your first, second, or third priority. These programs will be considered at the same time as your first priority.

  • Bachelor of Laws
  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy
  • Dental Hygiene (Diploma or Post Diploma Completion Program)
  • Doctor of Dental Surgery
  • Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science
  • Doctor of Medicine

International Applicants

In addition to the information above, if you do not meet the admission criteria to your first program priority we may consider you for an alternative program and send you an admission offer to facilitate your visa application process. On occasion, we may offer you admission to a program that may not be indicated on your application.
